Operation of integers

Integers

Integers are negative whole numbers, zero and positive whole numbers.
They cannot be in fraction or decimals form.

Negative whole numbers are Integers less than zero, i.e <0.
Negative whole numbers are also numbers on the left from zero in the number line. Examples of negative whole numbers are; -1,-2,-3,-4,-5,-6 etc.

Zero is a whole number which is neither positive nor positive.
Zero is part of integers in the number line.

Positive whole numbers are integers greater than 0, i.e, >0.
Positive whole numbers are also numbers on the right side from zero in our numbers line. For example, +1,+2,+3,+4,+5 etc.Can be written with or without positive sign “+” for example 1,2,3,4,5 etc.   but negative whole numbers, negative sign “-” MUST be included.
Integers are always represented on a number line at an equal interval, which is equal to one unit.

Positive whole numbers contain both odd, even and prime numbers.

Prime numbers are integers greater than 1 which are divisible by 1 and itself. Examples of prime numbers 2,5,7,11,13, etc.
2 is the first prime number.

Odd numbers are integers which are not divisible by 2. Examples of odd numbers are 1,3,5,7,9,11, etc.

Even numbers are integers divisible by 2. Examples of even numbers are 2,4,6,8,10,etc.

Operation on the number line.

For example, +4 to 0, we move from 0, on the right side 4 units to get +4.
 Substitution of integers.
For example, -5 to 0,we move from 0 on the left side 5 units to get -5.

Note.
When adding positive numbers, we move on the right side.
When substituting negative numbers we move on the left side.

Addition and subtraction of integers

Examples.
(+2)-(+1)=2-1=1.

(-5)+(-1)=-(5+1)=-6.

(-8)+(2)=-8+2=-6.

(+10)-(+2)=10-2=8.

Note.
Positive integers are also known as natural numbers.
In general,
(Positive number)×(positive number)=(positive number).
(Negative number)×(positive number)= (negative number).
(Negative number)×(negative number)=(positive number).
(Negative number)÷(negative number)= (positive number).
(Positive number)÷(negative number)=(negative number).
(Positive number)÷(positive number)=(positive number).

Operation of integers.
-2×4=-8.

-8÷-2=4.

20÷-4=-5.
